Veggie planting #744483

Asked April 15, 2021, 1:01 PM EDT

I normally plant my tomatoes and other veggies about this time of year. Is it too cold currently to put them into the ground?

I was going to give you an article to discuss tomato growth but I will tell you what I learned at one of my favorite nurseries when I observed that they have probably 50 very healthy (1-2 ft) potted tomato plants that looked ready to plant resting on a rolling multi leveled cart.  They said that they bring the entire load inside at night due to the cold weather.

So yes it is too early.  One issue is the soil temperature which needs to be higher and stable and another is the overnight temperatures unless you want to purchase them now and take them outdoors daily for this great warm weather we are having and then take them indoors each evening for a few more weeks.
