What is my garden pest? #744475

Asked April 15, 2021, 12:36 PM EDT

My outside garden is in Bemidji, MN. I have seen opaque/white slug like pests on my strawberries and peas in the summer months. They are small (1” or less) and look like white blobs. What are they? How can I prevent them from eating my strawberries? Thank you!

Expert Response

It’s really difficult to determine what your pest might be without seeing images. The link below talks about strawberries in Minnesota gardens and contains a section on pests. There are images of common pests, and you may find the one that is harming your crops there. If this isn’t helpful, send us images of any pests you find this summer on your peas and strawberries, and we may then be able to identify them. I’m also attaching an article that discusses pest management for strawberries and how to prevent these critters from damaging your peas and strawberries.
