Coco coir is a byproduct of coconut processing. The fibrous husks of coconuts are ground in order to produce a product that is very similar to peat moss in weight and texture, but darker in color. The majority of the world’s coconut fiber comes from Sri Lanka or India.Coir has a pH of 5.8 to 6.8, which is close to the neutral range enjoyed by a wide variety of plants. Coir has few nutrients to disperse. It is recommended thatthe coir makes up just 40% of the medium. Always moisten coco peat well and check frequently to keep up on plant water needs.
