Hello, my son who lives in Harford co. just sent me this picture asking if I had ever seen a bee like this before. I told him no but had seen another flying insect with metallic green body before. Could you identify this for us. Thanks. I see there is an orchid bee from Central America that has made it to Florida. I’m not sure if it’s the same.

That looks like a either a mason bee or a sweat bee. Both would be emerging from overwintering right about now.
