Last spring my maple tree only leafed out about 1/4 of the tree. I spoke to someone at Fruitbasket and showed them some pictures. They felt the tree was not diseased and recommended Bioadvanced “Tree and Scrub protect and feed” in the spring and then in the fall, which I applied. This spring, it still does not look like the whole tree is not growing. Tree is about 25 years old.Can you help?

Hi Robin
Thank you for reaching out through Ask Extension. I would recommend sending your pictures, and if they suggest doing so, a sample to the Diagnostic Lab on the MSU campus (https://www.canr.msu.edu/pestid/submit-samples/#Plant%20health). I think this issue is beyond what we can do reliably through this service. I would not recommend supplying any additional fertilizer until the issue is identified. Fertilizing an already stressed tree can add additional stress to the plant.
