Asked March 22, 2021, 5:20 PM EDT

I just noticed white on some of the bark of my Japanese maple. Picture attached. Does this need treated? Thank you!

Expert Response

After doing much research, it appears that the white on your tree is lichens which is harmless to your tree. Normally it is green in color, but it can be white. To confirm this, I would call an arborist to come out and look at your tree, they are tree specialist. In my research, that is all I could find. Thank you for your question.
