What kind of bug is in my kitchen cupboards? #736092

Asked January 04, 2021, 4:29 AM EST

Found these very tiny ant looking bugs all threw my kitchen. In cupboards with cereal, crackers, and snacks. But also in canned goods, on the floor, around the dog dish, on the black splash. Cleaned out cupboards where I predominantly found them, wiped down everything with spray nine and bleach, that didn’t help. Used a spray insect control, helps for short time. I’m lost as to what they may be, and what they are attracted to. I’m in Canada, where it is cold now.

Expert Response

Hard to be certain from the picture, but it looks like it may be the Sawtoothed grain beetle.

The easy solution is to show away any infested food item and seal all grains and dried food in containers so the beetles cannot get to them.
