Hello Can you help identifying this particular spider

Cuyahoga County Ohio

Expert Response

This is one of the Argiope spp. of orb weaver spiders. There are two very common, fairly large Argiope spiders in Ohio, the black and yellow garden spider (A. auranita) and the banded garden spider (A. trifasciata). It is much easier to ID the spider from its top appearance than the bottom appearance and your image is of the underside. I am leaning more to the banded garden spider. Neither of these spiders is considered medically important.
