I am unable to identify what might be eating the leaves on your tree without photos.
Please provide a close-up photo of the leaves and one on the entire tree if possible.

It appears to be cherry leaf spot. Here is a link that can provide more information for you. Pruning and sanitation (cleaning and disposing of fallen leaves) are necessary to help control this disease.
