String bean plants are dying #726242

My string bean plants started out great a few weeks ago, but now are dying. Advice?

Unfortunately, it is too late in the season now to grow string beans. They will not grow well as the weather gets colder and the day length shortens. For next year, plan to sow your last crop of beans by about mid-July.

At this time of year, you could still plant lettuce, spinach, arugula, corn salad, kale, and Asian greens. You can hasten growth and protect the plants deep into the fall with a floating row cover or cold frame. Spinach, kale, and arugula might even overwinter under the row cover and resume growth in the spring. See more about using row covers here,
