Bermuda Grass Fall Maintenance #724639

Asked September 17, 2020, 7:59 AM EDT

I have a cottage on the Albemarle Sound in Bertie county. The bermuda grass was planted in 2013, thus an established lawn. What are the recommended Fall maintenance procedures?

HI Bermuda doesn't require much maintenance in the fall, below is a link to a Bermudagrass lawn maintenance calendar

Hello,
To piggy back off Ms. Hurry, there is not much else to do.  Your nitrogen fertility, for bermuda, should be finished at the end of August-Early September at the latest.  But, potassium can be applied, if your soil test indicates a deficiency, without any detrimental turf health affects.  Also, mowing should be stopped well in advance of your first frost in order to preserve as much leaf tissue as possible going into the dormancy period.  The more leaf tissue on the plant the best chance the bermuda has surviving the winter.  The linked article in the Ms. Hurry's response is a great start.  If you have more questions feel free to reach out.
