Maple Tree losing leaves #717014

Asked August 24, 2020, 1:51 PM EDT

My Maple tree has slowly lost all it's leaves. They shriveled/dried up. The tree was in great shape last season (Fall 2019). We live off the North Channel in Clay Twnshp in a high water area. One of the pictures shows the tree in relation to the water. Is there a chance the tree will come back next year? Anything I can do now? I did send this out earlier this morning but was not sure the email went out...sorry.

Hello,
There is probably not much you can do for this tree at this point. It may still surprise you and leaf out next spring, but if it is perpetually soggy in that area, it may have too much root rot to do that. There are trees that can tolerate poor drainage; I have included a link to a list of trees that might like that spot better.  I am sorry I don't have more to offer in the way of a remedy.   https://extension.psu.edu/trees-shrubs-and-groundcovers-tolerant-of-wet-sites
