Cherry blossom tree dieing #709255

Asked August 04, 2020, 6:38 AM EDT

Hi I had to move my beautiful tree last mth due to construction work since moving it the leaves are brown and crispy
Is this a sign that the tree is dieing or will it come back to life next spring

I live in Scotland

Expert Response

Transplant shock is severe when a plant is transplanted in the hottest days of summer.  This tree does not look good!  If it generates some new leaf buds and when you scrape the bark with your fingernail you see green, there is a chance the tree will survive.  If you get no new leaf buds and the color brown shows when scraped, the tree is most likely not going to survive.
