What kind of bug is this? #708594

Asked August 02, 2020, 6:02 PM EDT

I'm just wondering what this is. It appears to be some type of wasp or hornet. I found it inside my home on a window ledge, already dead. It is 1.25" long, not including the antennae, which are curved/circular. The insect is completely black. I'm just wondering if I need to be concerned that more of these are hanging around in a nest somewhere.

Thank you for submitting your question. It’s hard to know from the photo but it looks like this might be a Mud Dauber Wasp. One way of confirming is if you noticed a very skinny, thread-like "waist" on the one that you found. Please see the attached link for more information. I hope this helps.
