Cherry Tree Pruning #706040

I have a tart cherry tree that I planted 10 years ago. It has grown beautifully and every early summer we get a bumper crop of cherries. Some of the lower limbs hang so low they touch the ground and when they have cherries they lay on the ground. Can I prune those branches? When is the best time of year to do that? Thank you for you help.

It would be best to prune your cherry in late winter early spring. Here is a link to info about cherries and about pruning. https://extension.umn.edu/fruit/growing-stone-fruits-home-garden
