Expert Response

Thank you for your question. Are you able to take clearer photos of the leaves? Is the tree in full sun? Have you been watering it? Thank you for more information.

I took some more pics hopefully these are better. Yes its in full sun and its actually my mother in laws tree and yard. She dumps a 3 to 5 gal bucket of water on it every other day. I felt it needed more water. There are a few other trees in the yard that are also losing all their leaves

Thank you for your photos! Dogwoods need lots of water-especially in these temperatures. I doubt that your mother is watering them enough. https://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=c280 But they also may have the following pathogen: https://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/host-disease/dogwood-cornus-spp-leaf-spots. A failure to remove leaves from prior years causes a replication of the problem year after year. All of these can be remedied by consistent care. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Mother in law is on a water meter she tries not to run her bill up. Other trees in her yard are also losing leaves i was afraid they all had something bad. I was worried that the tree might die!

Thank you very!
