Growing HUGE sunflowers in Andover #682620

What season long fertilizer should I use for my sunflower garden to grow large sunflowers in Andover. Super sandy with some black dirt mixed in the top few inches (xx-xx-xx) I need the numbers Thx Chuck

A soil test will evaluate soil fertility, pH level, and/or problems due to excessive salts or fertilizer materials. Based on the test results and type of plants to be grown, you will be sent the appropriate fertilizer recommendation for good plant growth without adverse effects on the environment.

How to Submit Samples for Analysis

  1. Download & Print the Lawn & Garden Information Sheet Lawn_and_Garden_2020-21.pdf
  2. Follow the instructions for collecting samples on the second page of the PDF.
  3. Place sample in a tightly sealed container or bag (like a clean, disposable food container or bag)
  4. Enclose a check payable to the University of Minnesota for all services requested. The cost is $17 per sample. Do NOT send cash - we cannot not be responsible for cash sent through the mail.
  5. Send the soil sample(s), money, and information sheet to us at:
