Watering trees #682537

Asked March 03, 2021, 3:19 PM EST

I checked soil around trees. It appears moist and cold about 4 inches down, and then seems frozen. This winter seems very dry and extremely windy. Should I be watering, when, and how much?

Expert Response

Hi Linda, as long as the soil feels moist and the ground is frozen  that deep, I wouldn't worry about watering for now. Keep watching and water when it starts to thaw and dry out.  Good job on keeping your trees watered in the winter.
