Pre-emergent and spring aeration? #682442
Asked March 03, 2021, 7:12 AM EST
If I aerate an area in the spring and apply a pre-emergent afterwards (We use Dimension) will the pre-emergent still be effective? I know not to aerate afterwards but I did not know if I could do it beforehand without reducing the effectiveness of the application.
Thank You.

Expert Response
You can add pre-emergent after aeration, as long as you are not over-seeding the area you aerated. Pre-emergent must be applied 2-4 weeks before the weed you are trying to control germinates. Warmer or moister springs cause earlier germination. If you need to aerate after you apply pre-emergent, the chemical should still be effective.
