Pollinator garden #681688

Asked February 24, 2021, 3:24 PM EST

Our church Sweeny Methodist is redoing our prayer garden into a pollinator garden, along with an annual cutting garden. We would also like to incorporate a rainwater catch system. Can the extension office assist with any planning for these 3 items? What does it take to be a certified pollinator harden?

Expert Response

Ms. Koether,

Your local Extension office can assist you with all three items. Extension has a website devoted to Rainwater Havesting, https://rainwaterharvesting.tamu.edu/

Some of our Master Naturalists are involved in documenting native pollinators in their pollinator garden.

Stephen Brueggerhoff is our Horticulture agent. I believe he can assist you with your "cutting garden."  he can be reached by email at <personal data hidden>

Did you want to use native plants in your pollinator garden? If so, we can likely get you a list of plants you can use.

My contact information is below. Send me an email and we will be happy to provide resources.
