Blushing Philodendron Propagation #681421

Asked February 22, 2021, 11:42 AM EST

Hello, what the best way to propagate a blushing philodendron? Mine is very strained at the root and I am concerned it will die if I don’t cut the top off.

Expert Response

Remove stem cuttings from the tip of your plant at a point below a leaf. Place the cuttings in a rooting medium or water. Plain water can be used to propagate your cuttings. This works quite well with species which root easily. The water should be changed on a weekly basis. You may also root the cuttings in a soil less starting mix.The mixture should be loose, well-draining and have plenty of oxygen movement for newly forming roots.  Read more about plant propagation. https://content.ces.ncsu.edu/plant-propagation-by-leaf-cane-and-root-cuttings-instructions-for-the-home-gardener
