Found this on six small Camellia sinensis plants. I washed them off with a hose. The orange “eggs?” were pretty well adhered. The mulch is chipped cedar. Any idea what this is?

The photos you send do not match any diseases or pests of camellia in our area, however it looks like it could be slime mold:

Did you notice any damage on the plant? Slime mold will not leave any damage since they do not feed on plants.
