California lawn Weed Identification #679825

Asked February 01, 2021, 4:11 PM EST

I am in Sacramento and have this new type of weed springing up all over the lawn areas.  It seems each flower is an individual root.  The flowers kinda looks like a clump of pine needles and I can't find anything like it on line.  Hmmm?

Does anyone have any idea of what this might be so I can buy the right weed spray or application?

I appreciate your time and help in this matter.

Sincerely

Darrell

Expert Response

It looks like a warm season grass, possibly nimblewill "Muhlenbergia schreberi".  There is no selective herbicide control.
