Can u tell what this weed is? #679258

This field used to farm soy and corn and now this weed has taken over. It has a woody stalk.

This is definitely in the Aster family, which is a very big family with many genera. In this state, my best guess is that you have the common native perennial panicled aster (Symphyotrichum lanceolatum), though it could also be another close relative, such as heath aster (Symphyotrichum ericoides) or another.
