Nasturtiums #679157

Asked January 15, 2021, 2:01 PM EST

Hi! I'd like to plant nasturtiums in my vegetable garden this year near my tomatoes and zucchini. I'm wondering if I can plant in the same raised bed, or if it's smarter to pot separately nearby. Just not sure how close or far they should be. Thanks for any help!

Expert Response

There is a good chance the zucchini will shade the nasturtiums. Zucchini plants can be 6 or more feet across.  Perhaps the tomatoes will too, depending on the variety and how they are staked. I'd give them some distance away from the large vegetables, and if that is not possible, a nearby pot.
