60 -70 foot spruce (I have 1 and neighbor has 5) loosing all their needles starting from bottom of tree. Noticed last year that needles never grew back and tree now appears dead. Others are probably dying -- no noticeable fungus or pests but contagious. Wondering if this is new Ohio plague? Can anything be done?thanks so much for any assistance

That is possible. You may be referring to this problem with spruce trees in Ohio, Rhizosphaera Needle Cast, a fungal disease of spruce. Read more here to see if that is what may be the cause of your spruce decline and possible remedies and or treatments:
