Both should be mulched to protect the crowns over the winter.Â Do not cut back.Â You can use leaves or straw for mulch.Â I used to just dump the leaves picked up and partially chopped by my mower as mulch.Â It stays in place better than whole leaves. Remove in the spring.
Thatâ€™s was I was planning on doing, but I was considering cutting back the asparagus.Â Glad I didnâ€™t choose to do that!
