Dogwood problem #673622

Asked August 06, 2020, 1:39 PM EDT

I have a dogwood tree that has discoloration on the leaves. Can you help me identify what the problem is? The tree was planted 2-3 years ago and has been healthy up to now. I am wondering if it is just a lack of water (haven't been as good about watering it this year as in past years), or if it has some sort of fungus or other disease. See attached pictures.

Expert Response

The dogwood leaves are sunburned. This won't cause any long term damage.

Give the trees 5-10 gallons of water per week during the summer. Even a well watered dogwood might have leaf damage from the sun if the tree is planted in a sunny area.

Good luck.
