What’s growing on my grass? #660729

My son noticed a small patch of grass where clusters of reddish brown threads are growing on the blades. See attached photo. I’ve never seen this and was unable to identify it with my google searches. It seems significantly different than the red thread photos I saw. What is it? Do I need to treat it? And if so, how best?

i think you maybe seeing red thread and it is a disease of grass.
