Asked July 02, 2020, 12:01 AM EDT
I walked out on my porch and found this large beetle lying on the ground. It is a dark reddish-black color and has very long and wide antennas. I assume it was attracted to my porch light but I have no idea what type of beetle this is? Just curious of what it is and thank you for your input!

Hi - This looks like a longhorn beetle in the genus Prionus. The Tile-horned Prionus is one of three species in Maryland that's a possibility. https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewChecklist.php?genus=Prionus
They feed on plant matter and the adults are indeed attracted to lights at night.
