My maple tree is loosing bark on its trunk. Concerned about health of tree and unable to determine cause and possible treatment. The tree is 18 years old, about 25 feet tall and looks otherwise healthy. Pics iattached. Appreciate any help in identifying issue and advice. Thank you

I think the problem is stem girdling roots and they have killed one side of the tree.
