What's wrong with my apple tree? #653211
Asked June 19, 2020, 12:32 PM EDT
Can you please help identify this disease or insect damage on a Zestar apple tree? We use an orchard spray on a regularly scheduled basis as recommended. It doesn't quite look like apple scab or cedar rust. It appears like the outer green layer of the leaf has been chewed off, like a leaf miner might do, but we haven't seen any insects or caterpillars. Help!

Expert Response
It looks like leaf miner damage. The best way to prevent it is to avoiding spraying too soon after blossoms appear. See the following website: https://wimastergardener.org/article/spotted-tentiform-leafminer-phyllonorycter-blancardella
