bugs on Cherry Blossom? #652610

Asked June 18, 2020, 9:17 AM EDT

Help!  Using dawn dish soap and water and a garden insecticidal spray and I am not having any luck getting rid of the bugs on my Cherry Blossom.   Or whatever is causing this problem.   Picture attached.  Please recommend what I can do to save these trees.   I purchased two of them.  One is in my front yard (north) and the other is in the backyard (south).   Both trees are infected.  Thank you

I don't see any insects in your pictures.  The kanzan cherry has finely serrated structures called stipules that look like leaves chewed by insects. If you look closely you will see that they occur in pairs. These are really exaggerated on the kwanzan cherry.

I think this is a natural characteristic of this cherry species.  Sometimes a virus infection causes the stipule to be even more exaggerate on cherries.   Unless there is an insect that is not obvious in the photos, I see no significant problem.
