Get rid of removed oak tree roots #652065

Asked June 17, 2020, 8:58 AM EDT

Hi. Had to remove an oak tree and didn't want them to put poison down to prevent roots from popping up because I had other plants nearby. Now the roots are popping up and I wonder if I could still use the injection without killing the other plants, or if I should use that liquid that I can put on each one as it surfaces. Thank you.

Hi- You can use either method. You can choose to use the sucker punch method or attempt to hurry the process along with injecting the stump. Here is a brief discussion of stump removal from CSU https://planttalk.colostate.edu/topics/trees-shrubs-vines/1740-stump-removal/  Either way it may take repeated efforts to eventually stop the tree from attempting to regrow.  Another take on the process is shared by one of the other counties in this blog post http://jeffcogardener.blogspot.com/2019/01/what-to-do-with-tree-stump.html
