Mushroom identification #650139

Hello, I went on a walk today in Heritage Park, Farmington Hills and came upon this mushroom(?) . It was under Maple tree. Can you identify it for me? I have never seen anything like it. Many thanks, Celeste Roe

Thank you, I did some further research given the links you've sent and it seems that this might not be a mushroom. 
I am not interested in eating it, just curious about what it is.
