Sycamore Tree Leaf Curl #649859
Asked June 12, 2020, 10:13 AM EDT
This is the first year that our sycamore tree has developed curling at the tips of the leaves. The tree is located near Ridgefield and Lauderdale Roads. I have attached 3 pictures of the condition.
I would like to know what is causing the leaf curl and what can be done about it? Also, will this condition hurt the tree in long run?
Thanks you

In looking at the third picture, it appears that the foliage on the branches started off OK, then there is leaf curling, and it looks like the new leaf emerging is not curled. Also the branch is very close to turf. This leads me to think that there may have been an application of an herbicide on the grass. The leaves also do not show any signs of disease.

Good day.
I have not used any herbicide on my lawn, so I don't think the curl is caused by that.
The curled leaves occur on all branches all the way to the top, which is about 20-25 feet.
I have included new pictures, one showing the under side of a leaf and another shows part of the tree.
I hope this is helpful.

I submitted your pictures to our disease lab and they came to the same conclusion that I did that the damage is consistent with herbicide damage.
The plant will outgrow the damage.
