Locust and Ash trees that were doing fine last year are dead. One never had leaves come out, the other did but then they died. If it's frost, nothing else in the yard frosted, no sign of borer or insects, no injury and no herbicides used on or around trees. Trees are watered by a lawn sprinkling system with some hand watering. Gallon size trees planted in 3X3 feet hole 5 years ago.
Elko County Nevada
Expert Response
I am sorry you lost your trees. I have several questions that will hopefully help me narrow down why your trees may have died.
Have you dug out the trees that died yet?
Did you do winter watering last winter?
When you water the lawn how deeply do you water? What are the run times and the type of sprinkler heads?
Do you use fertilizers or weed killers on the lawn? If so what kind and how often?
How was the growth of the trees last year?
Do you have a slow of fast-draining soil?
