Hollywood juniper is turning brown #644539

This Hollywood Juniper was fine three weeks ago. Then one large branch turned brown. Now half the plant brown. The plant is 13 years old, 20 ft tall and has been thriving until now.

Two things to check for:
- Because the damage is limited to one branch, the underlying problem may be a crack at the base of the branch, especially if someone has been working in that area.
- Another possibility is a canker & ooze at the base of the branch.

It's challenging to diagnose a tree problem from an image. So, consider contacting at least 3 Certified Arborists for on-site evaluations about the problem and what be done about it. We suggest Certified Arborists because they must pass a written exam and acquire continuing education credits

Thanks, Jean, for responding.  Actually two-thirds of the plant now is turning brown.  I have several arborist scheduled to look at it next week. Just hope it's not too late.

I'm sorry to hear that the browning is progressing so rapidly. As I'm certain you suspect, the tree may have passed the point of no return.
