Mountain Ash - Bumps on leaves #643043

Asked May 29, 2020, 2:40 PM EDT

Morning, Attached pictures of a mountain ash in our yard (KGB mile 7) and hoping to find out what this is (bug, fungus, etc) and if/how to eradicate it. We do have nearby fruits and vegetables that we could completely cover if we are looking at some form of spray solution. Thanks so much for your time Bill H.

Expert Response

These are almost certainly leaf galls caused by feeding feeding insect or mite.  The pests have most likely moved on by now so there is nothing you can do to prevent it or reduce it.  The tree will likely be quite fine.
