My friends sent me this pic from up north Michigan outside West Branch on their lake property.
They asked what I thought. I thought it was casings from white pine or some sort of sprue or pine.
Then I thought they might be bug casings from larva that just hatched. Is this from a pine tree or
June Bugs or some other bug. Just wondering. Thanks for you constant help in my questions.

Yes, I agree that this is some sort of plant part, like the bud "casing" of spruces. Many other trees have some sort of bud covering that is shed off, so it might be something other than spruce or pine.
