Juniper bushes turning orange #638787

Asked May 21, 2020, 9:33 AM EDT

I have several juniper bushes and an upright juniper tree that are turning orange. I had a professional company come out and look at them and they determined it’s not spider mites or voles. And because they were turning orange and not brown he did not recognize the problem.  I was away during the winter and on my return in late March noticed a lot of dying. I did a deep water but by late April it was significantly worse.

Expert Response

Thank you for sending your question on the browning juniper bushes and trees.
Pine trees and juniper bushes are showing the outcome of sub zero weather in October 2019, dry winter, and then sub zero spill in April 2020.
Making sure the junipers have adequate water will help then produce green needles.
Do not fertizle the junipers as they are stressed at this time.
I have attached information from Colorado State university Extension office for your review.
