Hyssop 'Navajo Sunset' Agastache aurantiaca #632924

Asked May 08, 2020, 10:57 AM EDT

Hi, I planted several of these last year in full sun to help establish my xeriscape yard/garden. Last year they thrived and grew really fast. Everything else is coming back beautifully this spring but these are a no-show. Do they typically emerge later or did they not survive the winter. Our bees really loved them so I would like to replant them but I want to make sure if I do, that I can do what I need to in order to help them survive the winter.

(The best picture I had of them was from early fall when we had our Halloween decorations up!

These plants need well drained soils, prefer gravel mulches and deep but infrequent watering after the second growing season. They do not like clay soils. They also do not care for rich, highly amended soils. To improve winter hardiness, leave the stems intact over the winter.
I am not sure whether any of this applies to your situation, so let me know if you have other questions. Thank you.

Thank you.  I would say the soil is a clay with some amendment, definitely not gravel mulch.  They did so well throughout the growing season that I am going to replant them and make sure to leave the stems intact to see if they return next year.  Thank you for your response!
