add nitrogen to garden #627307

Asked April 24, 2020, 3:26 PM EDT

hi,
soil test shows me my garden is N deficient (30 ppm).  Roughly 650 sq ft.  Can you recommend a good N fertilizer in can add to the surface before I turn the soil over to plant?  Organic matter is high so i don't need any additional compost material.  Thanks much for any help!

Steve,
A granular, slow release fertilizer is what you want to use. Be careful of lawn fertilizer as they may have added chemicals you don't want in your garden. I would recommend that you visit the closest nursery or garden shop and ask them for a granular, slow release fertilizer. You may have to get one that also has some Phosphorous and Potassium, but that should not be a probelm,
