Very Young Apricot Trees #619242

Asked March 27, 2020, 4:29 PM EDT

I started trees from a seed.. kept in refrigerator until it began to sprout as I read to do.  I've had them in pots now for six months because they were not big enough to plant into the ground and go through a Winter.

I want to plant them now, but they look like they are dying now ;  (

Do they look like they are dying to you?  Can I plant them in the ground now if they are still okay?

 Thank you.

Expert Response

Thank you for your question. They do not look healthy; I wish I knew what species of plant they are. Leaf shape appears to be that of roses. There appears to be a bloom beginning on the photo on the right. The leaves on the plant in the left photo appear to have either some type of fungal or viral issue, but without knowing the species, I can't be sure. It is certainly warm enough to have most woody species outside now, and they will continue to decline until and unless they get regular sunlight, especially in the spring. Keep them separate from other plants, lest they have a communicable pathogen. See how they look in a month or so and take some leaf samples and your photos in to they to examine.
