Weeping Willow tree dying?? #619195
Asked March 27, 2020, 2:30 PM EDT
My 45 year old Weeping Willow is losing almost all of the long swaying parts of the branches. I have to rake daily. The ones on the ground look healthy but the larger branches not so much. Is it dying or could it be in a shock of some kind? It is humungus and I so hate to think it is dying but I need help if if I am to keep it alive. Any comments would be appreciated.

Tommie,
It could be some type of shock. Has there been any kind of disturbance near the tree?
Large vehicles parked there, any digging for irrigation or other things in the area?
Has there been any treatment to the lawn near the tree?
Can you send pictures. The whole tree and close ups of the main branches and also of the branches that have fallen off. I still may not be able to tell you what is going on, but it might help

Tommie,
I don't see any obvious problems in the pictures.
I do see the Virginia Creeper on the trunk, How far up the tree does the vine go in the summer? It is possible if the vine covers enough of the tree canopy that is at least part of the problem. Also, has anyone treated the vine with a weed killer? That also could be a part of the problem.
