 i planted a new crimson king last fall and i have small red buds on branches but none have opened yet. when will they open ?

Good morning. Your Crimson King maple tree should flower in early spring - right about now. The tree flowers before it leafs out, so the leaves should follow soon. In addition, please be advised that this tree is considered invasive in Pennyslvania.  Some information on this is provided in the second link.
