Deer Repellent harmful to pollinators? #617780

Asked March 19, 2020, 3:49 PM EDT

Am planning new native flower beds and traditionally get extensive deer damage with new plantings unless I control with deer repellent spray such as Liquid Fence. Will this harm pollinators?

Calvert County Maryland

Check the label of the product and if it does not address this, call them.  This should not be an issue (most of these products are botanically based), but we cannot guarantee that and do not have specific research on it.

It certainly will not be an issue unless the plants are in bloom, which in most cases shouldn't happen for a year or so.
