invasive crocus? #616049
Asked March 07, 2020, 1:03 PM EST
Hello,
I think I have an invasive species in my garden. Can you help identify it?
The plant leaves look crocus-like, there is no odor and no flower. The bulbs are bare, unlike a crocus
with the brown papery skin.
The closest identification I found online is the Rosy sand crocus which is a problem in California.
Thanks!

This looks like Star of Bethlehem, an invasive weed. They were once planted as an ornamental. Here is more about it https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/star-bethlehem
It is difficult to control. For digging to be effective, you'll have to remove the clump of soil surrounding each with each clump of bulbs because there are so many tiny bulblets.
