Is this a baby black widow spider? #611558

Asked January 27, 2020, 11:03 AM EST

We recently moved into a house and have a few of these spiders crawling around, especially near the baseboard radiant heaters. We tried to research but cant tell, could this be a baby black widow? If not can you help us identify if the spider is friend or foe?

Expert Response

No it is not.  It is a related kind of spider, a cobweb/combfooted spider, but it is a different species, sometimes known as the triangulate cobweb spider, Steatoda triangulosa.  It is a pretty common spider found within homes in Colorado but is harmless.
