We have a live tree that has another species of tree growing out of the side of the base tree. It’s about 3-4 above the ground. Totally different barks, different leaves. Hoping we can save the base tree but we might be too late.

Your leaves are all those of a mulberry tree. Mulberry trees leaves have 3-4 different shapes.The bark probably looks different on the sprout because it is young. You can lop off the sprout and your original tree will be fine.
